A Midsummer Night's Dream

presents A Midsummer Night's Dream, Shakespeare's beloved tale of woodland fairies, star-crossed lovers, and countless hilarious mishaps, one of the greatest comedies ever written in the English language, albeit in Shakespeare's early modern English. A Midsummer Night's Dream! In which the audience will enjoy the pitfalls and follies of four young Athenians as they attempt to navigate love amidst the meddling of politics, their families, and even the mysterious fairies of the Forest.  Meanwhile, a group of laborers put on a play for the nuptial  festivities, and it is a farcical disaster yet great fun is had by all.

About Socorro Community Theater

The Socorro Community Theater, Inc. made its debut with "Macbeth" in the spring of 1994. Since that time SCT, an all volunteer organization, has averaged two productions per year. Productions in the early years focused on the works of Shakespeare including "Othello," "Hamlet" and "Much Ado About Nothing."  Recent productions include "Young Frankenstein," "Twelfth Night," "Drinking Habits," and "Radio Suspense Theater - The First Episode." SCT has performed in a number of venues in Socorro, such as the Valverde Restaurant, Rancher's Steakhouse, Holiday Inn Express, and Macey Center on the NMIMT campus. Most of the productions, however, have been performed at the historic Garcia Opera House.

SCT attributes its continued success over the years to the support and good will of the community. The organization welcomes newcomers and although prior experience in theater is appreciated, it is not a prerequisite. Anyone interested in any aspect of theater (acting, costuming, set design or construction, publicity, technical support, etc.) can learn more about SCT by calling 575-517-9159.
